Over the past few years since the pandemic, the Centro San Juan Diego building has become a new home, or “home away from home,” to a handful of organizations, offices, and ministries. The integration of additional ministries plus a secular organization has allowed each to continue thriving on its own while, at the same time, working towards a shared goal to promote the common good and recognize the inherent dignity of the human person.
Since August 2020, the Denver metro Society of St. Vincent de Paul has conducted its main operations out of Centro San Juan Diego, providing essential services and support to the poor. Most recently, Centro San Juan Diego welcomed Centro Humanitario para los Trabajadores to office space as well, while staff from the immigration branch of Catholic Charities has been using Centro as a satellite office to help qualified permanent residents prepare their N-400 applications for U.S. Citizenship.
Meanwhile, the newly-created office of Pastoral Outreach for the Archdiocese of Denver, which includes prison ministry, the missionary cooperative program, and Centro San Juan Diego itself, among others, is also housed at 2830 Lawrence Street in downtown Denver.
“Pursu[ing] justice is not simply an individual task — it is a call to work with others to humanize and shape the institutions that touch so many people.”* Working together to address a variety of complex needs within our poorest and most vulnerable communities, Centro San Juan Diego and all of the organizations and offices listed above are not only embracing the social mission of the Church, which does, indeed, belong to all of us, but committing our work each and every day to the formation and development of more just institutions for all. We pray you will continue to join us!
